Our involvement in RAI-6Green builds upon the expertise gained from our previous collaboration on the AI4Green project. AI4Green marked a pivotal moment for P.I. Works, where we showcased the transformative potential of artificial intelligence (AI) in optimizing network operations and reducing energy consumption. Through AI-driven solutions, P.I. Works has consistently demonstrated the ability to balance energy efficiency with superior network performance, ensuring robust and reliable connectivity for users.
Central to P.I. Works’ involvement in RAI-6Green is its focus on energy savings especially within the O-RAN (Open Radio Access Network) framework. As part of this effort, P.I. Works’ advanced energy saving rApp will be deployed on the O-RAN RIC (Radio Intelligent Controller)—to enable energy-efficient operations, which is designed to optimize energy consumption across networks without compromising performance or quality of service. By leveraging the flexibility and intelligence of the O-RAN architecture, ensuring seamless integration and efficient energy utilization.
Additionally, P.I. Works is contributing to the development of the Battery Lifetime Extender (BLE) module, a critical innovation aimed at extending battery life during power outages especially during disaster times where service continuity is crucial. This module enables the seamless shutdown of specific Radio Access Technology (RAT) layers to conserve energy while maintaining essential connectivity. This feature is particularly vital in disaster scenarios, where network resilience can be a matter of life by incorporating advanced AI algorithms, the module can analyze real-time data from network alarms to identify power issues more accurately and optimize battery usage dynamically. AI-driven predictive analytics further enhance the module’s capability to anticipate potential failures and take proactive measures, ensuring efficient resource management and improved resilience during outages.
